Diversify Your team

As a business, employing learning Disabilities and additional needs could be one of the most rewarding and valuable decisions you can make as an employer.

One in five of the working-age population is classed as disabled, but only 5.1% of people with learning disabilities gain permanent employment compared to 80% of their peers – when 65% would like a paid job. Why do employers typically view people with a disability less favourably than able-bodied people, and how can we dispel some of the misconceptions that surround employing people with disabilities? To improve accessibility and representation throughout the Theatre Industry, the answer is simple - employ more disabled people.

There is already a vast amount of amazing work going on nationally, and there are good inclusive practices to promote inclusive employment in the theatre industry, but it is not well-publicised.

Working with the Education & Training Foundation (ETF), schools and other colleges, we are showcasing opportunities available to learners, specifically those with learning disabilities, including autism, within the Theatre Industry.
